Frankfurt (dpa) - The number of passengers passing through Frankfurt Airport rose in the first quarter compared to last year, but at a slower pace than in the recent past, according to figures released by operator Fraport on Friday.
Over the first three months, 14.8 million passengers passed through Germany's largest airport, up 2.5 per cent from the same time in 2018.
Figures for 2018 saw a growth of 7.8 percent which led to significant capacity problems at the airport terminal.
The number of flights coming in and leaving Frankfurt rose 3 per cent in the first quarter to almost 117,000, while freight tonnage fell 2.3 per cent to a little over 527,000 tons.
Frankfurt is also Germany's largest airport for freight traffic.
