Europe’s cultural riches can hardly be gauged in Euro coins. The Euro itself is now a symbol of that great diversity and thus more than simply the official currency in 19 EU member states at present. The German Federal Ministry of Finance draws attention to this with its event series entitled “The Sound of Europe”, a mixture of political-cultural dialogue and musical excellence. At each of the individual events the focus is on one country from the European Monetary Union – on Tuesday, 16 May 2017 it is Malta’s turn. Some of the Maltese musical greats will perform, including star singers Cliff Zammit Stevens and Joseph Lia. And the Valletta International Baroque Ensemble (VIBE) will give listeners insights into music in the Baroque era.
