Open day at Germany’s Federal Foreign Office
At its open day Germany’s Federal Foreign Office is laying on an extensive programme informing visitors about its work and is even throwing open the minister’s office.
From the crisis reaction centre in the basement to the minister’s office on the first floor of the historical building and the artist’s studio under the eaves. On 27 and 28 August 2016, Germany’s Federal Foreign Office is opening its doors from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering an extensive programme which provides insights into its work. For example, on the first day Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe, will be answering current questions on Europe after the Brexit vote at a citizens’ forum. On the second day, the German ambassador to Kabul, Markus Potzel, will be discussing the present situation in Afghanistan. The title of his talk: “Foreign policy live”.
A visit to the guesthouse by the lake
As part of the accompanying programme there will be exhibitions providing information on the shift in energy policy away from nuclear and fossil-fuel power and the Federal Foreign Office’s programme to preserve our cultural heritage. The exhibition “40 out of one million” highlights the fate of the victims of the Syria conflict. Cultural mediators such as the Goethe Institute and the German Academic Exchange Service will be presenting both their work and the various areas of activity at the ministry and by the OSCE observers. In 2016, Germany holds the OSCE chairmanship and in this role aims to strengthen the OSCE. The villa serves as a guesthouse for the minister and for the academy of the Federal Foreign Service.
