The death of the Scholl siblings remains a legacy to this very day. In February 2013 it will be exactly 70 years since Sophie and Hans Scholl called for active resistance to National Socialism at Munich University using illegally printed flyers. Together with like-minded students, they formed the resistance group called the White Rose. The rogue judiciary of the Third Reich sentenced the young defendants to death in a summary trial. Today, streets and squares recall the Scholls as do about 150 schools throughout Germany that are also named after them.
