Berlin (dpa) – The Federal Government intends to provide more support for economic reconstruction in Ukraine and has adopted a comprehensive package of measures for this purpose. According to a statement issued by the Development Ministry in Berlin, the 15 measures are focused on financial subsidies and interest rate reductions for small and medium-sized enterprises in Ukraine along with investment guarantees for German companies. Building on this, the Ministry is working with the Ukrainian government to establish an institution dedicated to the reconstruction of Ukraine modelled on the German investment and development bank Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW). “Ukraine needs more than weapons to survive in this war. It’s vital for its economy to be able to keep running, too, and for the country to be able to finance its reconstruction,” said Development Minister Svenja Schulze.
