Berlin (dpa/d.de) - Six months after the Hamas terrorist attacks on Israel on 6 October 2023 which killed over 1,200 and saw 230 hostages taken, pressure is growing on Israel to allow comprehensive aid to people in the Gaza Strip. Israel’s government under Benjamin Netanyahu had announced it would allow deliveries. “People in Gaza need every last delivery of aid, so we expect the Israeli government to deliver on their announcement very quickly,” said the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. The spokesperson added that the measures were “important and appropriate, but of course overdue as well.”The Federal Government believes at least the equivalent of 500 HGVs is needed in order to ensure the bare minimum reaches Gaza.

Meanwhile the Bundeswehr has dispatched an A400M transport aircraft to the Middle East to carry out airdrops of food over the Gaza Strip. The mission is expected to last several weeks.
