Politicians around the world reacted with shock and sorrow to the attack in a concert hall in Moscow.

Moscow (dpa) - Friday evening’s attack on a concert hall in the Russian capital Moscow, in which more than 60 people were killed, has prompted shock and sorrow worldwide. The terrorist militant group Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack. The perpetrators are on the run. Germany’s Federal Foreign Office wrote on X that this was a “terrible attack on innocent people”. And that the reasons for it should be investigated quickly. “Our deepest sympathy goes out to the families of the victims,” the statement continued. Bundestag Vice President Katrin Göring-Eckardt also spoke - likewise on X - of a “cowardly attack on people who simply wanted to listen to music”. The European Union was shocked and appalled, wrote EU Commission spokesperson Peter Stano on X, adding that the EU condemned any attacks against civilians. “Our thoughts are with all those Russian citizens affected.” UN Secretary General António Guterres and the UN Security Council likewise condemned the attack.
