Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie (German Sociological Association)

The spectrum of social phenomena studied by sociologists is nothing short of amazing. The center of the guild is the German Sociological Association (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Soziologie, DGS), founded in 1909 by such legends as Tönnies, Weber and Simmel, and now counting more than 2500 members.

German Youth Institute

What‘s the best way to help young people in socially deprived areas? The German Youth Institute (DJI - Deutsches Jugendinstitut) examines the living situations of children, young people, women and families. The DJI, which was first formed on the basis of a decision of the German Bundestag in 1963, is the largest non-university research institute for social sciences in Germany today. It provides advisory services for the world of politics and practical application, organizes conferences and carries out international projects.

German Political Science Association

If you teach, do research, publish or otherwise work in the field of political science, you can apply for membership in the German Political Science Association (DVPW – Deutsche Vereinigung für Politische Wissenschaft). The DVPW organizes public conferences and lectures, supports scientific publications and promotes the exchange of experiences and opinions with people in other countries.
