Wandering through digital art worlds
The Städel Museum is celebrating its 200th birthday with unusual digital projects.

The Städel Museum in Frankfurt and its director Max Hollein have a very special gift in store in 2015. Germany’s oldest museum foundation is planning a lavish expansion into the digital dimension to celebrate its 200th birthday. The plans include a digital platform for exhibits, computer games, an online course on the history of art and a “digitorial” with information on exhibitions. According to Hollein, the cultural industry can also benefit from advancing digitisation: “If we succeed in offering a true alternative, we are preparing the ground for the future of the institution and the Städel Museum’s next two hundred years,” explains the Städel’s director.
