Bionics is a nascent science. Yet there are quite a few higher education institutions in Germany that accommodate the subject: traditional or dual, as an international programme, at bachelor or master level, full-time, part-time or via distance learning.

Bionics – even dual

You can enrol without admission restrictions to complete a bionics study programme, even dual, at the Westfälische Hochschule located in Bocholt. The latter requires you to provide a vocational training contract with a cooperating company or – in the practical or work-integrated variant – an employment contract.

International Bionics study programme

Hochschule Bremen (HSB) City University of Applied Sciences offers an undergraduate International Bionics programme. Admission is restricted: Places are awarded in a selection process.

Master’s in Construction Bionics

The postgraduate course in Construction Bionics leading to a Master of Engineering degree from htw saar University of Applied Sciences is mainly completed via self-study using distance learning materials. The prerequisite is a degree in engineering or biology.

Orthobionics

HAWK Göttingen together with University Medicine Göttingen (UMG) offer a bachelor’s degree course in Orthobionics. It primarily takes place in the orthopaedic technical training centre at UMG and thus provides a direct link to patients.

Bionics M.Sc.

Admission without restrictions to obtain a Bionics M.Sc.in an international study programme over three semesters: This is what is offered by Rhine-Waal University of Applied Sciences in Kleve am Niederrhein. The prerequisites for this master’s degree course are a bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the chosen specialisation and English at C1 level.

Materials Science and Bionics

Hamm-Lippstadt University of Applied Sciences offers a bachelor’s degree course in Materials Science and Bionics at its Lippstadt campus. Admission is currently without restrictions and the course teaches not only the fundamentals of natural sciences but also “solid technical know-how”.
