Mr Rasp, what is special about your town?

We offer Germany’s only historic centre that is entirely surrounded by high mountains and a national park.

What do you see when you look out your office window?

The roofs of the Old Town and, beyond, the panorama of the Alps with the silhouette of the Watzmann.

What place do you like most in the town?

A beer garden in the pedestrian zone and the Kneifelspitze. The Kneifelspitze is our local mountain, where you can go for good hikes.

What excursion would you like to show tourists?

Sailing across the Königssee with the first boat bright and early, and then taking a quarter of an hour walk to the Obersee in the heart of the Berchtesgaden National Park.

Where can you best meet other people in your town?

At our numerous religious and traditional festivals throughout the year – especially at the Berchtesgaden Advent, an original Christmas market in the historic centre of the town.

And where do you like best to spend your holidays?

With my family somewhere in the mountains.
