Project description:

The habits and the way of thinking we acquire as a child are part of our subconscious mind, which will be driving our conscious mind, our actions, all our life. It is therefore important to focus on education. The children need to develop good habits in school, be actors of the project, and think about solutions for given situations. In this project, the children will be responsible to take care of the environment around them, which corresponds to their classroom, their school, and later one public area around their school which will be assigned to them.
Teachers will receive training to understand the importance to face the environmental issues, and how to involve the children in it. A class committee will be elected in each class, which will allow the children to apply the democratic process of finding solutions: the students will work together, to discuss and share their innovative ideas regarding issues, and lead to an agreement on what response they will give. Every week, there will be a competition inside the school to measure their involvement, and reward the ones who took initiatives. The evaluation will be done by our youth team.
Once they have acquired some habits, each school will also be assigned a public spot. There will be a competition between the schools participating, in order to rewards the schools which have taken more initiatives to keep in clean, and raise awareness around by campaigns. One school will win at the end of the year.

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

The environmental situation of Nepal is critical. The pollution is high, and there is no waste management; people throw trash in the street, and/or burn it. In school, the classrooms are not clean and respected, and the education only consist in memorizing facts. This makes people living passively, without questioning, and therefore unable to detect problems and think about changing it. Our motivation is to make a change in Nepal, make people think and involve themselves to help others.

Use of prize money:

The money will be used to make project board in each school participating in this competition and students will be bringing out weekly wall newspaper, and the best one will win every year with some monetary prize and certificate. Other expenses will be for community campaign and materials needed like the sound system for mike and rally, gloves, sacks, bags, trashcans to match the fund raised in the community. Most active volunteers and activists will be compensated. Administrative and compensation will be about 15 percent of the total prize of $15,000. Transportation cost to all schools in sweltering heat and snacks will be provided to youth team monitoring.
