Project description:

As Founder & Chair-person of a 3 year old Non profit Organisation that is striving to become a sustainable entity,I have under my personal capacity decided to organise Hikes/trekking trips at a cost of course to explore our country's hidden but magnificent gorges and caves. During the hikes/explorations we get to learn more about our countrý's history and culture. My plan is to film the hikes into a 13 part series and sell the material to Multi-choice Africa/Botswana Television or Discovery.30% of proceeds go towards my Association which has been donating school shoes, sanitary pads, second hand clothing and food to under-privileged kids in remote areas of my country but struggling to meet the demand.

Goal and purpose of the project:

• To promote social entrepreneurship within the community
• If people were to see on television shows how beautiful their environment is,they might be motivated to get involved in trying to protect it
• The money would help us keep afloat as an organisation and ensure that we continue to donate school shoes,sanitary pads,clothing and food to the under-privileged

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

In my country, many NGOs are failing because of lack of funding, we struggle to have donors. Mostly due to the fact that we are running out of innovative ideas as to how we can raise funds. I have been organising hikes for a small group of people. Everytime we shared pictures on our social media, a lot of people were suprised that such places existed in their own country and it was from there that an idea of the bigger picture revealed itself. Use of prize money:

The prize money will be used as part investment into the film project so that our content buyers, Multi-choice will understand that we mean business. The prize money will ensure that we will have a pilot show to present to them. It also gives us leverage to now get the remaining fund from Botswana Tourism. Botswana Tourism has been trying to find methods to encourage tourism amongst the locals. The prize money will also be used to keep buying and donating school shoes, sanitary pads, second hand clothing and food to under-privileged kids.
