Project description:

For this application , our focus is on the Care and Support of Orphans and Vulnerable Children . We have been working In this area since 1996 , to improve the quality of life of these orphans and vulnerable children . In meeting their needs , we provide specialized care and support in the area of health (ensuring that they are healthy at all times throughout the day , week and month by providing medications to them when any child is sick or when any one of them has a strange sickness like HIV/AIDS) because a healthy environment brings good health , Secondly , we strive to give them good quality food that will help them grow and develop normally and to cater for them is highly expensive ie it cost $350 to care for each of them per year . we normally reach out to the public to help us with the care and support of the orphans , thirdly , we have provided them with an accommodation to keep them safe from wandering about aimlessly and carelessly and it will keep them focused for education and for a later economic empowerment as they mature , so that they can stand on their feet to make or earn a living for a difference . we also give them psychological care both in the orphanage and at community level . We have a center for 40 of them in the past but because we did not have enough resources we gave them out to another center that has the resources .Currently , we have just twenty in our custody .

There are some other challenges facing the centre and the assistance of 15,000 euros will go a long way to install some of our needs below

• Provision of a Bus or vehicle to convey the children to and fro to the hospital and on emergencies and for outreach services to mothers living with HIV/AIDS
• Construction of a 3 Classroom blocks to create a conducive environment for Learning
• A Lawnmower
• Allowances for home caregivers and early child care centre teachers
• Scholarship for Older orphans
• Mentoring and fostering of children
• Food items and drugs
• Sponsorship and social outings

Goal and purpose of the project:

My project fosters on the inclusion or integration of some young orphans and children at risk who were picked on the streets in Oyo Town and its neighbouring villages in Oyo state ,Nigeria .
I work for FAHPAC as a volunteer and our mission is to provide sustainable integrated health and development services to the underserved individuals and families with particular focus on children , youth and women . we focus on women development program ,adolescent /young services

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

Life is meaningful when you are add value to it. I like adding value to something , making a difference and creating an impact wherever I find my self because in doing so you improve lives and livelihood and put a smile on the faces of the recipient or beneficiary involved . My course , Psychology and Counselling involves advancing humanity and the society at large so as to proffer psychological counseling wherever necessary .
Again this discipline has helped me to understand my environment and the strategies needed to come to the aid of the less priviledged and marginalized orphans , since most of these orphans need psycho-social support amongst other things to weather the storms of life to become some significant individual in future , I feel it is necessary to assist them by crying out loud for the support of donors or applying for such grants so that they will be better integrated or included in to the society .

Use of prize money:

we shall use the prize money to take care of the needs of the orphans in our custody and such needs will include Good food , nutrition for them , medications , toiletries , cloths , allowances for the caregivers , money to care for the environment to ensure it is clean and safe
