Project description:

Panda is an initiative that aims at imparting financial independence behavior to girls in the age of 18 to 25. Panda teaches girls about saving, innovation, entrepreneurship and career development. To accomplish all this this project has 3 phases.
The first phase is Panda college events across the country. It is an edutainment program that teaches girls how to save, proper spending, entrepreneurship skills and career guidance. It starts by a workshop in the morning where girls’ entrepreneurs showcase their products, services, organizations and companies. Then Successful men and women speak on specific topics using their life experiences as testimonies.
The second phase is Panda extension. After being inspired and motivated the girls are now taken to the field to learn the skills of producing certain products and services so that they can employ themselves. These are local training where they are engaged in full production for 8 weeks. Some of the training is on catering, decoration, agriculture, hair and nails do.
The third phase is an online platform that connects college girls with companies, institutes and organizations that offers jobs, internships and volunteering opportunities. This platform also gives an opportunity for startup entrepreneurs to register their business profile so that they could do proper online sells where buyers could view the site, order, pay and get delivery. This will help these young women who cannot afford to run online business sites.

Goal and purpose of the project:

In Tanzania young women are behind when it comes to economic progress that’s why Panda initiative wants to set a trend of young women role models who make their own income. This project aims at creating more job opportunities for young women in Tanzania. Nurture them to initiate self-employment. To enhance them with financial stability through saving culture. To give them a platform where they could get skills, experience and network that would make them competent in their communities.

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

1 among 3girls in Tanzania get marriage before 18 years to save their families from poverty and 39% of all girls in Tanzania get early pregnancies. Majority of girls fail to join universities because of lack of school fee and others engage in risk behaviors such as prostitution where they end up with diseases such as HIV&AIDS. Her initiative wants to save the generation of these girls who are future leaders, mothers, entrepreneurs and career women. We also want to build a gap of gender imbalance

Use of prize money:

We will use this prize to cover the costs of our college events and practical training throughout the year. This prize will not only be used to cover our logistics but it will be an investment that will help us generate more income to run the organization. That is through the online site that we will create to generate more income from the girls who register, buyers of products and services, companies that take interns and employees from us
