Project description:

Uganda Youth Mission Against Poverty(UYMAP) is a youth founded and youth led project that seeks to equip the young people with entrepreneurial and industrial skills so that they can tackle the challenges of this millennium like rampant poverty and unemployment. The skills include commercial cookery like cake making and other simple snacks, processing and packaging fruit juice, paper bag making, liquid soap making, candle making, vaseline making, simple modern agricultural skills, among others.

Goal and purpose of the project:

The overall goal and purpose of the project is to fight unemployment as well as poverty.

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

Well, I am inspired and motivated by a number of social and business entrepreneurs that have worked hard to make this world a better place, for example Bill Drayton of Ashoka, Bill Gates of Microsoft, Muhammad Yunus, among others. In addition my miserable childhood experience has also had an impact on how I look at the world. Sharing my story I won a prize in the 2008 international essay contest organized by UNESCO and Goipeace foundation.https://www.goipeace.or.jp/en/work/essay-contest/past/

Use of prize money:

I intend to use the prize money on widening the project scope such that more youth can be impacted. This will involve upgrading of our training resources and packages, get more skilled and experienced technical persons on board.
