Berlin (dpa) – Around 5,500 exhibitors from 161 countries will be presenting their products and services to more than 90,000 trade visitors at the International Tourism Exchange (ITB) in Berlin from 5 to 9 March. At the ITB Congress being held at the same time with more than 24,000 guests, the industry will address challenges such as climate-neutral travel, the shortage of skilled workers and the impact of artificial intelligence. This year there will be a particular focus on the responsibility of tourism with regard to biodiversity and climate justice. The industry has now recovered from the severe slump caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

In numerous countries, international tourism is an important sector of the economy. According to estimates, 330 million people worldwide work in tourism or related sectors, which means that around one in ten jobs in the world depend on tourism.
