21.10.2026

Berlin (dpa, d.de) – The Federal Government promoted Germany as a business hub at the Invest in Germany Summit on 19 and 20 October 2026. Around 200 executives from international and German companies attended the summit in Berlin. Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz announced that by the time the summit took place, the companies that had been contacted had agreed to invest a total of around 230 billion euros. This amount includes projects that were announced in the past. “We are determined to give Germany a major boost,” Merz said.

Investments by Amazon, Nvidia and Brookfield

Amazon alone plans to invest more than 16 billion euros in Germany in 2027. The money is earmarked, among other things, for projects in the areas of computing centres artificial intelligence, satellite internet access and logistics. The US chip producer Nvidia announced shareholdings in four German start-ups, including the robotics company Agile Robots and the aerospace company Reflex Aerospace. In addition to this, the Federal Government and Nvidia agreed to cooperate in developing industrial AI.

The international asset manager Brookfield plans to invest several tens of billions in Germany over the next five years, focussing on the areas of energy, digital infrastructure and industry. Merz also mentioned investment projects by Microsoft, RWE, the Schwarz Group and the Sanofi pharmaceutical group.

Germany wants to attract further investors

Industrial AI was among the key topics addressed at the summit. The Federal Government plans to further develop its cooperation with international technology companies and to reinforce the links between Germany’s industrial capacities and AI applications.

Accelerated approval procedures, a reduction of red tape and improved infrastructure are to further improve investment conditions. The summit marked the start of the Federal Government’s long-term Invest in Germany initiative that aims to attract and support international investors.
