The Dreamed Adventure by German director Valeska Grisebach has won an award in Cannes.
Cannes (dpa) - German director Valeska Grisebach has won the jury prize in Cannes for her film The Dreamed Adventure. In it, Grisebach tells the story of an archaeologist who is working on a dig in a Bulgarian border town. When she attempts to help an old acquaintance, she gets increasingly caught up in a world of crime.
Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski was awarded Best Director for his film Fatherland. A black-and-white drama, it combines political history with an intimate father-daughter relationship between the famous writer Thomas Mann (Hanns Zischler) and his daughter Erika (Sandra Hüller), who travel through war-devastated Germany in 1949.
