Reiche: Germany is on its way to becoming an industrial AI champion
Germany relies on artificial intelligence as a driver of growth: AI applications are to become a standard part of industrial activities by 2030.
Berlin (d.de) – Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche has repositioned the Industry 4.0 platform and made further development of artificial intelligence a key priority of German industry. Together with representatives of associations as well as the areas of business and research, the minister launched the newly aligned network in Berlin on Friday. The goal is to establish AI applications across the entire industrial sector by 2030, aiming to boost Germany’s competitiveness and technological sovereignty.
“Germany is on its way to becoming an industrial AI champion,” Ms Reiche says. Data-powered and AI-based applications are to be harnessed to develop a decisive competitive advantage by 2030.
The new steering group includes representatives of 17 industrial companies, as well as of research institutes and associations, such as Siemens AG and TRUMPF SE + Co. KG, SAP SE, Mercedes-Benz AG, Robert Bosch GmbH and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft. Planning provides for a work schedule for establishing an ecosystem for industrial AI to be drawn up by September. Access to the platform is to be granted to other corporations, start-ups and medium-sized companies, too.
