Berlin (dpa) – The ‘Made for Germany’ business initiative pledges investment of over 850 billion euros by 2028 to strengthen Germany as a business hub. Prior to a meeting with Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil and Minister for Economic Affairs Katherina Reiche in Berlin, the initiative reported that 147 companies and investors had joined. More than 200 billion euros had been invested in 2025 alone, according to the initiative.

The initiative, whose founding members include Siemens and Deutsche Bank, is calling for greater efforts of policymakers. Roland Busch, CEO of Siemens, said that Germany had everything that was needed to allow for growth. “We now need to speed up those reforms and, in particular, we must seize the opportunity to make use of industrial AI.”
