Berlin (dpa) – AI-based household devices, the latest TV technology plus robots large and small: At this year’s IFA consumer and electronics show, more than 1,800 exhibitors are presenting their latest technologies. The show opened its doors to private visitors yesterday. This year it is celebrating its 100th anniversary. During a tour of the exhibition, Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz learnt more about kitchen and household innovations based on AI – he saw washing machines that use AI to wash more efficiently, an oven with food recognition capabilities and a refrigerator featuring a novel vacuum technology. “Innovation can improve our lives and forms the basis for economic prosperity and progress,” Scholz said. “We do not need to fear these changes, as essentially they make our lives easier.”

The exhibition of technological innovations will continue at Berlin’s trade fair grounds until Tuesday. The event organisers expect more than 182,000 visitors.
