The German economy is growing
A slight upwards trend can be observed in the German economy, despite global conflicts. Experts believe that further potential for growth exists.
Wiesbaden (dpa) – Amid the various crises, the German economy shows to be more resilient again, posting growth for the third consecutive quarter. The gross domestic product (GDP) increased slightly in spring, despite the impacts of the Iran war. Based on preliminary data, the Federal Statistical Office calculated a gain of 0.2 percent between April and June 2026, compared to the previous quarter.
At the same time, the statisticians from Wiesbaden also changed the first quarter’s result from 0.3 to 0.4 percent, and economists consider this a sign of the German economy recovering more strongly than previously thought. The further development of Europe’s biggest national economy will depend to a large extent on when the conflict between the USA and Iran will be solved.
Some positive impulses could be observed in the area of foreign trade in the second quarter, with exports increasing compared to the previous quarter as well as for the fourth consecutive month in May.
The most recent economic figures give hope that the German economy will continue to be resilient, as the industrial sector received more orders from abroad for goods made in Germany. Experts such as the head economist of Commerzbank, Jörg Krämer, therefore believe that potential for further growth exists.
