From the stage in Frankfurt to the limelight of Berlin: three young fashion designers, who gained recognition with their sustainable designs at the 2015 Frankfurt Style Award final, can now present their creations during the Berlin Fashion Week. Ralina Akhmetova from Pforzheim University, Julia Eschment from Hanover University and Anne Lonnes from the Fashion and Design Institute in Düsseldorf have been invited to the Greenshowroom Berlin which, with the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin, is one of the largest fashion events for eco-fashion. The names of the designs are in themselves promising: Nature’s many Colours, NewStalgia and Reincarnation. According to the organisers in Frankfurt, the top three translated the idea of sustainability into the most creative designs.

Within just a few years, the Frankfurt Style Award has developed into a new showcase for international fashion design. It offers an international stage for up-and-coming talent. Once a year, Frankfurt becomes the focus of the best schools of fashion and design in the world, as a selection of tomorrow’s fashion designers present their creations to an international audience at Frankfurt Airport. From 2014 to 2015 the number of applicants had already doubled to 314 aspiring participants from 31 countries, with half from Germany and half from abroad. Meanwhile, the call for entries to the 2016 Frankfurt Style Award has already started, and is titled World of Contradictions. This year’s applicants can enter two of the three categories: Kim K. vs. Frida K., Bronx vs. Boulevard and Occident vs. Orient.
