Lille (dpa) – The German series “Herrhausen – The Banker and the Bomb” has won the award for best screenplay at the international series festival “Séries Mania” in Lille in northern France. The award goes to the screenplay writer Thomas Wendrich. The series is about Deutsche Bank CEO Alfred Herrhausen (1930-1989), who was the victim of an assassination for which the left-wing extremist terrorist organisation Red Army Faction (RAF) claimed responsibility. In a press release, Wendrich emphasised how important it was to him that the series had been so appreciated: “It is wonderful that a German subject has met with such a great international response. The appreciation that we have all experienced here gives me great pleasure!” The author, actor and director had already won the 2022 German Film Award for his screenplay of Andreas Kleinert’s film biography “Dear Thomas”.
