Travelling and blogging your way around the world
Inspiring travellers are daring to do what many only dream of: travelling the world. Let’s meet the German travel bloggers who are inspiring their followers.
Whether cycling through Tajikistan or exploring Thailand by motorbike with only the bare essentials, three German influencers are sharing their adventures with thousands of followers along the way.
“I want to bring people with positive attitudes together”
Ann-Kathrin Bendixen, aka “Affe auf Bike” (Monkey on a Bike) is travelling the world on her motorbike. With only €400 and a soft toy monkey, the travel blogger set out from Handewitt in Schleswig-Holstein in 2019. Her journey was prompted by an unexpected blow, a serious illness which almost took her life when she was 19. The experience inspired her to explore the world. On her website she describes her daily routine in the Antarctic and offers advice to adventurous travellers. She writes, “In the end if I can reach just one person who makes a positive change in their life, then my content was not for nothing: it was worth its weight in gold!” I want to bring people with positive attitudes together.”
“I would recommend an adventure like this to everyone”
Among his favourite hobbies, Joshua Allgeiers includes eating ice cream, cycling and taking on any adventure. His most recent exploits took him more than 14,000 km as he cycled from Gießen in Germany to Hong Kong. Along with his fellow adventurer Jonas Hinkel he rode through the historic centre of Istanbul, traversed the desert on the Pamir Highway, and crossed mountain passes in Kyrgyzstan. On Instagram he describes the biggest highlight of his journey so far: “What a feeling to have ridden my bike to the other end of a continent. I’d recommend it to everyone.”The 25-year-old student shares his travels with over 108,000 people every day via the social media platform.
“Go out and do what fulfils you”
Daniel Großhans, aka “Radreise unlimited” (Bike travel unlimited) has toured Iran and Afghanistan by bike. He is currently in Tajikistan. In 2021 he handed in his notice, packed his bags and set off into the world with no plans or time limit. Since then he has spent 2,500 hours in the saddle in temperatures ranging from -12° to 40°. “Guys, go out and do what fulfils you. Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”He regularly publishes videos that inspire his 270.000 followers.
