Although the 2017 jubilee year begins on 31 October 2016, the Reformation Decade has been preparing for the 500th anniversary since 2008. Thematic Years have focused on various aspects of the Reformation, such as education, music and politics. At the heart of the jubilee celebrations will be several major exhibition projects that reflect the global influence of the Reformation.

From October 2016 onwards, German and US museums will realise two exhibitions with support from the Federal Foreign Office. First, the exhibition “Here I Stand…” visits New York City, Minneapolis and Atlanta with exhibits from the Halle State Museum of Prehistory, the Luther Memorials Foundation of Saxony-Anhalt, the Friedenstein Castle Foundation in Gotha and the German Historical Museum (Berlin), while the “Renaissance and Reformation” exhibition will go to Los Angeles. The project #HereIStand will not only be accessible to all as a digital exhibition, but can also be ordered worldwide. It presents the most important events in the history of the Reformation and their effects. Another highlight: reproduction of original exhibits using a 3D printer.
