The main purpose is to decrease the mortality rate while providing healthcare services that are available to everyone.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) Road Safety Report 2015 states that there are 27.4 traffic deaths per 100,000 people every year in Uganda. Between the years 2010 and 2013, the Ugandan Police Force found through their annual traffic and crime reports that 1,000 to 10,000 victims were killed and injured respectively due to road traffic incidents in Uganda. This is very concerning as it costs Uganda dearly particularly in terms of the loss of a significant proportion of its economically active population, which in turn retards its economic growth and development.
Accident & Emergency Care Services is a project under the Ngo S.A.V.E that will officially start in september and is to serve as the first point contact for accident and emergency cases in Uganda. Unfortunately due to logistical and financial barriers, healthcare is inaccessible. Road traffic incidents are caused by several dissimilar factors such as the disrespect of road traffic laws, the usage of inadequate road vehicles, the consumption of alcohol and drugs. The lack of safety gear is also a key factor in road traffic incidents. Accidents include road traffic injuries of varying degrees of severity, infectious and non-infectious diseases, pediatric and complications of child birth.

Goal and purpose of the project:
Short Term Goal:
We will provide basic first aid training to all ages.
We aim to provide a permanent organisation with trained personnel to be immediately available to give first aid to road traffic incident victims and everyday emergency victims. We will also engage community volunteers at a local level as well as offer community organisations, schools, drivers and adults First Aid training.
Mid Term Goal:
We will provide training in defensive driving for all driving permit holders.
Long Term Goal:
We aim to provide mobile facilities that will be used for trauma care services and rehabilitation services.
Purpose:
Through prioritizing an integrated approach to early recognition and reanimation extensively, the morbidity and mortality associated with all of these conditions will be decreased. Our programmes will help the economical active population to resume their work through rehabilitation, which in turn helps Uganda's economic growth and development to increase.
Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:
My father suffered fatal injuries during my childhood that were internal and external but due to the lack of first aid knowledge he lost his life a few days after. Very recently my former lawyer friend lost her life due to the same reasons even though there are countless people who are willing to give a helping hand but lack the basic First Aid skills that can make the difference between life and death in those crucial minutes before victims are taken to hospitals/health care centers. First Aid is a simple skill that can be learned for those individuals that are willing to engage in the training. Willingness in Emergency situations matters a great deal when combined with basic first aid skills. If you have someone who can follow precise directions, your survival chances are evidently higher before being treated in the hospital.
Use of prize money:
The money will be used to provide the best quality first aid training facilities and counseling facilities in Uganda.
