Berlin (d.de) – Representatives of over 75 countries met in Berlin for the tenth Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue. Germany’s Federal Government invited policymakers and experts from business, science and society to discuss strategies to speed up the expansion of renewable energy. This year’s conference is entitled “„Accelerating the Global Energy Transition”.

“In order for us to prevent the worst effects of the climate crisis, we literally need an explosion in global investment in clean energy,” said Germany’s Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock. Economic Affairs and Climate Action Minister Robert Habeck noted that Germany had already boosted the share of renewables to over 50% of the country’s electricity supply. “We want to get to 80% by 2030, and we’re well on track for that,” Habeck said.
