Alabali Radovan launches skilled worker recruitment alliance
Together with partners from business, Germany’s Development Ministry is launching the “WE‑Fair” alliance for the fair recruitment of skilled workers.
Berlin (d.de) – German Development Minister Reem Alabali Radovan is launching an alliance for the “fair, orderly and sustainable” recruitment of international skilled workers. According to the development ministry, the initiative “WE‑Fair: Business and Development Policy for Fair Recruitment of Skilled Workers” is to combine private-sector expertise with development cooperation networks. The goal is to achieve a “triple win” for Germany as a business location, for skilled workers and for their countries of origin. “Germany needs qualified professionals,” said Alabali Radovan.
The founding members include the German Trade Union Confederation, the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts. It also involves companies such as the logistics giant DHL, HR service provider Randstad and the company Klein. The alliance aims to recruit skilled professionals from countries in Asia, Africa and Latin America. It is prioritising better practical training programmes in workers’ countries of origin and transparent processes. According to the ministry, the launch will bring together around 120 representatives of business, chambers of commerce and associations, as well as of diaspora organisations and trade unions. As examples, the ministry cites programmes in Vietnam and projects to reform vocational training in Egypt.
