The sector’s booming
In 2012, the German energy efficiency sector posted sales of EUR 146 billion and 16 per cent growth on the prior year. Over the same period, payroll expanded 10 per cent to some 800,000 employees. Growth was crucially driven by the rise in energy prices, new technologies and the regulatory regime. These are the main findings presented in the first edition of “Branchenmonitors Energieeffizienz 2013”, published by Deutsche Unternehmensinitiative Energieeffizienz e.V. (DENEFF).
The report is based on a survey of 63 corporations from sectors as different as mechanical engineering, building energy consultancy, construction materials, banks and household appliances. It also draws on existing studies and statistics. To date this is the very first such comprehensive overview of market data, trends and the sentiment among companies involved in the energy-saving business.
