Working from home: Germany out in front

Very few countries placed higher than Germany in an international ranking. Rates of working from home have remained stable since 2023.

Calculations by economics researchers show that Canada has the highest rate of working from home, at 1.9 days. Next were the United Kingdom at 1.8 days and Finland at 1.7 days. Germany, the United States and India came in with 1.6 days each. 

South Korea and China at the bottom of the table 

The study found the lowest rates of working from home in South Korea (0.5 days), China and Greece (0.6 days) and Japan (0.7 days). Among Germany’s neighbours, rates ranged from 0.9 days in Denmark, to 1.0 in France, 1.1 in Poland, 1.2 in Austria and 1.3 in Czechia and 1.4 in the Netherlands.  

The study surveyed several tens of thousands of people aged between 20 and 64 in 40 countries between November 2024 and February 2025.
