Frankfurt am Main (dpa, d.de) – Germany has announced its 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The German team’s coach Julian Nagelsmann has opted for a mixture of experienced players and young talent.

Particularly noteworthy is the return of goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The 40-year-old player, who was part of the German team that won the 2014 World Cup, is once more part of the squad.

Joshua Kimmich was named as team captain. Antonio Rüdiger, Kai Havertz and Felix Nmecha will also be part of the World Cup squad again, following prolonged periods of injury. The youngest member of the squad is the 18-year-old Bayern Munich player Lennart Karl.

David Raum from RB Leipzig will be part of the German team, too. The full-back has played in 36 international matches to date and was also part of the 2022 Qatar World Cup squad.

In its first match at the group stage Germany will be playing Curaçao in Houston on 14 June. This will be followed by matches against Côte d'Ivoire in Toronto and against Ecuador in East Rutherford. The German team will be staying in Winston-Salem in the US state of North Carolina.
