Project description:

Social Business Incubator Foundation Mitrovica is a non-profit organization which focuses on social entrepreneurship for marginalized communities and their socio-economic development and inclusion. By marginalized communities, we mean poor, unemployed youth, women, girls, and single mothers, ethnic minorities specifically Roma communities. Social Business Incubator Foundation Mitrovica operates on the four main pillars (as stated below): 1. Provision of Vocational Training in 7 profiles: hairdresser, welding, carpentry, handcraft, construction, barber, and auto-mechanic. 2. Technical support in business establishment such as: business registration, basic bookkeeping, cash registry and operations. 3. Financial support in terms of inventory provision. 4. Space provision for the social businesses/enterprises in Incubator in Roma Neighborhood. The Incubator has 850m squared space which gives away to the social enterprises in Incubator. The only requirement/obligation towards the Social Business Incubator Foundation is to pay the bills of water, waste, and electricity supply of the space used and to have a social focus such as cleaning, maintaining the surroundings, and employ a person from marginalized communities as defined above.

Goal and purpose of the project:

The goal and purpose of the project is to contribute to the overall socio-economic development of marginalized communities.

Motivation of the applicant / applicant team:

I am the executive director of the no-profit Social Business Incubator Foundation and my motivation apart from helping the less advantaged communities is to bring new and more ideas and support of marginalized communities in terms of their educational development, as most do not have any educational experience.

Use of prize money:

The money will be used for two main reasons: 1. Capacity Building in Leadership, Management, Business Planning, Marketing Strategy and Development, Financial Literacy and Accounting. 2. Social Businesses in the Incubator will be able engaged in the environmental clean-up for a period of 12 months and learning about environment and importance of waste management.
