Award-winning school
The Yangon Film School Is awarded the Praemium Imperiale Grant for Young Artists.
From Japan via Berlin to Myanmar. The Praemium Imperiale Grant for Young Artists is awarded this year to the Yangon Film School (YFS) in Myanmar. The YFS was established in 2005 by the Anglo-Burmese filmmaker Lindsay Merrison, who lives in Berlin and travels regularly to Yangon. To date the school has provided training free of charge to more than 160 students. The Japanese Praemium Imperiale is regarded as a Nobel Prize for the arts.
