Hollywood movies meet Taunus
The Schlosshotel Kronberg is one of the most beautiful film locations in Europe. We take a look behind the scenes of Spencer.
In the low mountain range of Taunus in the German federal state of Hesse, just a few kilometres from Frankfurt and set in extensive parkland, is Schlosshotel Kronberg, where Hollywood stars came and went in the spring of 2021: the feature film Spencer, starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana, was shot here. Although filming also took place in other parts of Germany and England, most of the interior scenes of the drama were shot at the Schlosshotel. The picturesque complex was chosen by the European Film Commissions Network (EUFCN) as one of the five finalists for the most beautiful filming locations. In this interview the hotel director, Dominik Ritz, gives a few glimpses "behind the scenes".

Now everyone is looking eagerly to Berlin, because at this year's Berlinale it will be announced which of the five nominated backdrops can call itself the “Most Beautiful Film Location in Europe”. Spencer has already won the Hessian Film Award and the lead actress Kristen Stewart has been nominated for an Oscar. In Kronberg, excitement is running high to see if another award will be added.
