University career
Joybrato Mukherjee, son of an Indian immigrant, was the youngest ever president of a German university.
At the time of reunification, he was still at school and wanted to become a teacher. In 2009, Joybrato Mukherjee, son of Indian immigrants, became the youngest ever head of a German university as President of Giessen University. Since 2012 he has also been Vice President of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
