Independent funder
The German Research Foundation (DFG) does much more than merely administer funding.
Research needs funding. As the central organization for the funding of research at higher education institutions and public-sector research institutes the German Research Foundation (DFG) “serves” science and research in Germany. Its president, Peter Strohschneider, says self-confidently about Europe’s largest research funder: “All our decision-making processes are free from intervention on the part of politics, industry or others.”
