Debate on new right-wing political force
Many people are watching with concern as a right-wing populist force establishes itself in German politics: Alternative for Germany (AfD) has achieved several electoral successes.

Electoral successes and general criticism: many people are watching with concern as a right-wing populist force establishes itself as part of the German party system. In September, Alternative for Germany (AfD) received over 20% of the votes cast in the election to the state parliament in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It also achieved double-digit results in Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded in 2013 as a reaction to the euro bailout policy, the party now focuses on subjects such as refugees and integration, as well as criticism of Islam. Among other things, it is demanding a ban on the burqa in Germany.
