2029 European Women’s Football Championship in Germany
“A tournament for everyone”: Germany will be hosting a European women’s football championship for the third time in 2029.
Nyon (dpa/d.de) – The UEFA European Women's Championship will be held in Germany for the third time in 2029. The German Football Association (DFB) received an overwhelming majority of 15 votes from the UEFA Executive Committee. The championship will be the first major women’s football tournament to take place in Germany since the 2011 World Championship. European championships were held in Germany in 1989 and 2001. Planning provides for the matches to be played in the following eight cities: Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Wolfsburg. “We have no doubt at all that the tournament in Germany will attract more than a million fans and that the UEFA will make a financial profit from a Women's Euro for the first time,” said DFB President Bernd Neuendorf. “We would like to invite everyone to come to Germany. It is a tournament for everyone, not only for Germany,” the DFP President added.
