Basketball: Germany are European champions
Germany have won the European Basketball Championship, completing the rare double of World and European titles.

Riga (dpa) – Two years after their sensational World Cup triumph in Manila, Germany have now won the European title too, thereby securing their place in basketball history.
In a thrilling final in Riga, the team featuring NBA star Franz Wagner defeated Turkey 88:83 (40:46) to celebrate their second European Championship title after 1993.
Dennis Schröder was a driving force in the closing stages, while Isaac Bonga stood out with 20 points.
Germany won all nine of their matches at the tournament. Playing in a sold-out arena in front of 11,000 spectators – including Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier – interim head coach Alan Ibrahimagic’s team kept their nerve after a weak start.
