Young Germans are optimistic
A newly published study shows that many young people in Germany are optimistic about the future.

Berlin (dpa/d.de) – Many young people in Germany see their own future in a positive light. According to the “Youth in Germany 2025” trend study, 65 per cent of 14- to 29-year-olds say they are optimistic about their personal future – up from 62 per cent the previous year.
The study’s authors, a team of social scientists, note a particular increase in satisfaction with physical and mental health. Young people also gave more positive assessments of their career prospects and social recognition. Their view of their own financial situation remains unchanged, however.
The study challenges the “lazy youth” stereotype: with a full-time employment rate of 81 per cent, young workers are more likely to work full-time than older generations. Many young people draw strength from family, relationships and personal life goals, while religion and nature are not frequently mentioned as stabilising factors. What does concern them are the political situation and social cohesion.
