Delivery by drone
Deutsche Post is testing parcel delivery by drone in a unique project.
The military has been using them for a while now, some people make them themselves and one is even sent hovering above Cologne Cathedral to inspect the state of the building. Drones are now deployed in many places. In autumn 2014 a German logistics company achieved a world first with a new project: Deutsche Post is testing parcel delivery by drone on the North Sea island of Juist. In the field trial, the “DHL Paketcopter” transports medicines and other urgently needed goods from the German mainland to the island. RWTH Aachen and drone manufacturer Microdrones are also involved in the project.
