ALL ORGANIC. Many organic farmers keep animals, which are fed – and naturally then produce excrement. This “waste” as well as other agricultural residues can be converted into biogas, which in turn can be used as an energy source.
However, to date hardly any organic farmers in the EU generate biogas. The Sustaingas project aims to change all that. Partners from seven EU countries are taking part, including the Renewables Academy (RENAC) in Berlin. Workshops, training courses and publications aim to provide extensive information to organic farmers about this topic.
