Collages among Colleagues
Ten illustrators from Germany and Israel are working together on an exhibition to be shown in 2014.
The Familiar and the Strange – is the title of a German project involving five illustrators from both Germany and Israel. The artists are working on a joint exhibition scheduled to be shown in 2014 in Jerusalem and in Troisdorf, North Rhine Westphalia. In November 2013 the Israeli illustrators were guests of their German colleagues. First, a German and an Israeli artist spent several days together at the respective German artist’s place of residence and exchanged ideas on the theme of The Familiar and the Strange. Then all the artists met at the Bilderbuchmuseum Burg Wissem in Troisdorf and discussed the practical work involved. It was then that the collage here in the photograph was done by Zeev Engelmaier. In February 2014, the German quintet will travel to Jerusalem. The German-Israeli Future Forum is the main sponsor of the project.
