Intrepid architect
The spectacular office buildings of architect Ole Scheeren are rising high in Asia.
RISING HIGH. At the age of 31 he was an architect in charge of building the China Central Television Headquarters in Beijing, one of the world’s largest office buildings. In an interview, Ole Scheeren said he wasn’t afraid of the challenge. “I’m not a very anxious man,” he said, adding that vigilance and strategic manoeuvring were more important than traditional knowledge. Meanwhile, the native of Karlsruhe with offices in Beijing and Hong Kong can build on a wealth of experience: more of his spectacular constructions have been rising high in Asia.
