Meryl Streep appointed President of the Jury

A three-time Oscar-winner with longstanding ties to the Berlin International Film Festival.

13.01.2016

Elegance, radiance and an acting ability in a class of its own: three-time Oscar-winner Meryl Streep is a venerable presence at any film festival, and the Berlin International Film Festival is no exception. From 11 to 21 February 2016 Streep will act as President of the Jury at the 66th Berlinale. She has frequently been a guest at the event: in 1999 she received the Berlinale Camera and in 2003 she won the Best Actress Silver Bear together with Julianne Moore and Nicole Kidman for “The Hours”. In 2006 she was
once again in the running with Robert Altman’s “A Prairie Home Companion “, and in 2012 the Berlin International Film Festival paid homage to her and presented her with the Honorary Golden Bear for her life’s work. “It is a thrill to return to the festival under any circumstances, but it
is with great relish and anticipation I look forward to jury duty. The responsibility is somewhat daunting, as I have never been President of anything before, and I hope I can come up to the precedent set by the distinguished juries of preceding years. Grateful for the honor”, says Meryl Streep with regard to her jury presidency.
