On 4 July 1944, the Italian village of San Gusmè was the scene of a terrible crime. German soldiers murdered
villagers indiscriminately. The St. Pauli Theater Hamburg and the Teatro
Alfieri Castelnuovo Berardenga are staging a play, entitled “Red Apricots”, to commemorate the incident. At
the premiere in San Gusmè, local residents performed alongside professional actors like Ulrich Tukur and Mauro Chechi.
