“Literatour” across Europe
The European Omnibus Reading Tour is an initiative of over 100 European authors who travelled across the continent in summer 2016.
This initiative has what it takes to make a thrilling road movie: a total of over 100 European authors travelled across Europe in a bus. With changing groups of up to eight writers, the European Omnibus Reading Tour promoted cultural exchange and stood up for an open Europe. The bus made numerous stops for readings and other activities along the way.
The tour took writers to 14 countries. Local artists were also involved at every stop. The reading tour was organised by Crowd, an international network of literary activists. “When Europe’s political landscape is riddled with ongoing crises, there needs to be cultural initiatives in civil society which can promote exchange and understanding,” said co-initiator Katharina Deloglu.
