On an Exchange
An initiative that brings German and African students and graduates together.
First Bavaria, then Berlin, and finally Brandenburg – the 22 German and Namibian participants in the 2013/2014 scholarship exchange programme “Go Africa … Go Germany” certainly got to see a lot last summer. But then that is the whole point of the programme. Under the auspices of the Federal German President, the initiative brings together a group of particularly dedicated and qualified German and African students and graduates each year. They then go on two ambitious educational trips. In summer 2013, the seventh exchange started with a two-week visit by the Namibian exchange partners to Germany; it ends in March 2014 with a return visit to Namibia by the German students and graduates. The aim of this intercultural and interdisciplinary exchange programme organised by the Stiftung Partnerschaft mit Afrika e.V. is to work towards closing the gaps between mutual perception and everyday reality in Germany and Africa so as to enable long-term partnerships on equal terms.
